About Me

My pen name is Lily Obediah Laverick: names all belonging to my family, including my great grandparents and further back still. You can call me LOL for short. I love a good laugh.

I was born in Dorset, England. At the age of two my fabulous mum left my now estranged father to live in rural France, next door to her parents, my grandparents, as a single wonder-woman mum.

Growing up in Indre, France, has been nice, but living next door to my grandparents was amazing! I got to see them every day. My beautiful grandmother passed away when I was nine, but my granddad went on for many more years always with a spanner or a screwdriver at the ready to fix what needed fixing, our very own Bob the Builder! Sadly, he passed away on Christmas day 2022. It was a tragic shock for us, but for him, it was the best way – peacefully in his sleep.

I started out an angsty, highly hormonal teenager writing fan fiction on my new laptop bought on the proceeds of a short-term job I’d taken. After the job ended, I realised how lucky I was, supported by my mum, I was able to stay at home and write. She said, “Just do it, I’ll give you a year, maybe more but just do it.”

I think she expected me to give up on it after a few months, but here I am after two years and still doing it.

Now I’m taking those stories and rewriting them with my own crazy bunch of emotional LGBTQ+ characters and in worlds of my own making. There may be no dragons but there are nymphs and shadow creatures.

Not only that, but with the help of my fabulous mentor, Vicky (Positive Points Editorial Services) I was able to publish my first novel, “Boy Jayck”!

Wanting to fulfil my dreams and my passions, I have taken on my pen name and I’m ready to write what goes on inside my head.
